This is how it looked when I bought it

Scott's 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

I bought this thing in February of 2000. It has a swapped in 401 with a Carter carb and MSD Ignition. As of 3-24-01 it has a 3 or 4 inch Superlift kit, a 3" body lift and 33" BF Goodrich MTs wraped around AE-639 Eagle Alloy wheels. This is my daily driver and part time tow vehicle for my CJ-7. As of 12-12-00 it has about 167,000 miles on it.

I found a 90' Wagoneer in Dallas on 12-16-00 with 33" BFG Mud Terrain on it for $1200. It had been rolled so I used the lift and tires on my Wagon. So finally I have 33's on my FSJ. Here are some pics of the Jeep I bought.

With the suspension lift, I did not lengthen the driveshafts. They seemed to be fine, and I have had no problems yet. I put on a droped pitman arm. Also I put on braided steel brake lines. With the body lift, I had to extend the transmission shift linkage with a 3" rod. The kit I bought did not have it included, so I used a piece of rod that I had laying around. The T-case linkage did not need lengthened. The shifter handle will swing a little lower, but not cause a problem.

Also the gas tank is connected to the body. I had to fab a mount to lower it also. I bent a piece of sheet metal into a Z shape, and it worked pretty good. Of course with these Jeeps fighting the body mounts is the norm. I had to drill a hole above the two rear mounts to get to them. Some bolts will come right out and some will probably break off. If they do, try to heat up the bolt with a torch and grab it with a pair of pliers or visegrips.

Raising the rear bumper is not that hard. Unbolt the bracket from the frame, and reweld it 3" higher. You could drill new holes and bolt it on also. The front bumper is all together different because it bends under the frame. I have raised the rear but not the front. I am seriously thinking of puting on some prerunner bumpers. Not to many companies make aftermarket parts for these rigs. So some fabing is in order.
